Literacy Council of Manatee

The Literacy Council of Manatee County, Inc. (dba Manatee Literacy Council) is a volunteer-based nonprofit community organization dedicated to increasing the level of the functional literacy of adults in Manatee County through teaching the skills of reading, writing, understanding, and speaking English.

Literacy Council of Sarasota

Since 1978, The Literacy Council Sarasota (LCS) has been helping adults improve their basic English reading, writing, comprehension and communication skills through one-on-one tutoring and small group instruction. LCS customizes teaching to individual needs, providing a unique focus on enabling adult learners to function better within the frameworks of their own life situations.

Food Pantry

All Faiths Food Bank

All Faiths Food Bank is the only food bank and largest hunger relief organization in Sarasota and DeSoto counties. The Food Bank was founded in 1989 by a group of individuals who, through their respective organizations, were feeding the hungry.

The Food Bank of Manatee County

The Food Bank of Manatee is a PLUS program of Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee. The Food Bank is the largest hunger-relief organization based in Manatee County, and has provided over 58 million pounds of food since 1985 for local children, families, and seniors. The Food Bank of Manatee provides nutritional assistance and caring, supportive services to individuals in need throughout Manatee County by distributing food through local non-profit partner agencies and food pantries, and through direct services to the community.

The Women’s Resource Center is a non-profit organization that provides critical programming to individuals in Manatee & Sarasota Counties. Our programs include Mental Health & Wellness initiatives, resource counseling, financial and legal aid, life skills coaching, career guidance, and scholarships for education.
