Come hear from local Latin American authors as they share their work while accompanied by live instrumental guitar. Immerse yourself in the bohemian ambiance, enjoy some snacks or a beverage, and join us in a celebration of beauty and diversity.

This collaborative event is brought to you by CreArte Latino Cultural Center and Bookstore1Sarasota. CreArte Latino Cultural Center was founded in 2012 as a creative hub for the Latino/Hispanic community in Sarasota and Manatee Counties. The nonprofit organization seeks to forge a bilingual cultural exchange between Latinos/Hispanics and the community at large through the arts and education, including theater productions, book clubs, classes, workshops, and collaborations with artists from the area and throughout Latin America.

Featured Artist:

Clara Eugenia Ronderos is a Colombian poet, short story writer, and literary critic. She is currently a retired professor at Lesley University. In 2010 she won the Carmen Conde Poetry Award (in Spanish) for her book Estaciones en Exilio (Madrid, Torremozas), in 2012 she published her second volume of poetry Raíz del Silencio with Universidad de los Andes, Colombia. A bilingual edition of The Poetry of Clara Eugenia Ronderos, Seasons of Exile, translated by Mary G. Berg and the author, was published in 2015 by the Edwin Mellen Press. Two volumes of poetry appeared in Madrid in 2019: Después de la fábula(Verbum) and De reyes y fuegos (Torremozas). Her short stories are collected in two volumes: Ábrete Sésamo (Madrid, 2016) and Agua que no has de beber (Argentina 2019). Her latest book Unfoldingswas published in 2021 by Nixes Mate. It includes translated poems from her books in Spanish and new poems in translation as well as original English poems. Her poems, articles, and short stories are available online, in literary and academic journals and anthologies. She lives in West Brookfield MA.
